Brett and I thought we’d share a little about our awesome groomsmen gifts today for another session of Girly Wednesday focusing on our wedding 🙂
Brett found this great shop on Etsy called Berkley Illustration where the artist has this awesome set of animal busts dressed in suits 🙂 Brett sifted through all of the options and chose one for each of the groomsmen…and one for me 🙂 hehe! Brett’s was the Red Fox and I was given Strelka the Space Dog. Our prints are hanging in our hallway!
What do you think? What kinds of things would you choose for groomsmen gifts? 🙂
Brett and I weren’t blogging as consistently when this website was our wedding website. We mainly used it as a platform to communicate valuable information about our big day 🙂 Well the time has come to slowly fill all who are interested in on some of the behind the scenes facts about our big day 🙂 Did you know, for instance, that my wedding dress was actually my mom’s? 🙂
When Mom wore it…
and when I wore it…
In between I spent a lot of time with my friend Cathy Moe and a wonderful seamstress/dressmaker extraordinaire, Tina. She helped to transform and modernize my mom’s dress so that it was perfect for my occasion too. My mom was really excited that I was going to wear her dress and said that I could restyle it however I wanted 🙂
The original dress was long sleeved (with belled out areas near the wrists) and zipped all the way up the back to the base of the neck. It was decorated with lace and was a beautiful white color. Time turned that beautiful white into a gorgeous ivory. The only thing that I couldn’t wear from my mom’s big day was her veil…which for some reason didn’t change color at all 🙂 Tina removed those long, belled sleeves of the dress first, which really transformed the look. We opened up the back and used the lace from the sleeves to decorate the new neckline of the dress.
The dress was bustled at the same place it always had been though the mechanisms involved were new.
My mom’s rings were also featured in my wedding bouquet. 🙂

I am usually a HUGE fan of planners and to-do lists and then imposing both of these onto others in my life 🙂 Kind of joking about the part about imposing planning on to others….but only kind of 😉
My organizing/calendar system that I normally like to use for such tasks ran out of date pages in July and I never got around to ordering another one…until now! The planner pad arrived last week and I made one of my priorities for the very next day to start filling it all in! It felt so good to have all of the lists that I’ve been writing on random pieces of paper, nicely organized and all in one place. I find it so much easier to figure out how much time I have actually devoted to each part of my life when I have a single, go to place for organizing tasks, meetings, chores, and errands.
How do you keep yourself organized? How do you set goals? How do you organize tasks?
Girly reality television…you all know what I mean right? It’s the Say Yes to the Dress shows and the Sister Wives of the reality television world. There are about 4 different variations of Say Yes to the Dress alone! I’ve been slowly making my way through the Bridesmaids edition of the series….I joke with a friend of mine getting married next fall that I’m doing research for her 🙂 I admit to fully enjoying shows like this as background noise while I’m cleaning the kitchen or chugging through some research for school. I really like the baking shows too. Are those girly? 🙂 Anyone else have some favorites out there? 🙂
